Organized Religion Gives God a Bad Name

Organized religion, and especially organized Christianity, gives God a bad name.  I say “especially organized Christianity” because it speaks the most accurate truth about our Creator, which makes its hypocrisy all the more destructive.

Organized Christianity is not God’s requirement.  Therefore, there is no reason for us to cling to it.  I am not suggesting that we prohibit those who want to practice organized religion.  I’m just suggesting that if you want to serve God, you don’t need organized religion to do that.

You serve God by doing good, by doing right.  You serve God by forgiving others while you yourself live the most moral life you know how.  You serve God by walking with Him every day of your life.

Let the organized religionists walk with each other.  You walk with God.

Jesus – Organized Religion = Biblical Christianity

Jesus minus organized religion equals biblical Christianity.

Does this surprise you?  It shouldn’t.  Organized religion has been giving God a bad name ever since the Israelites came up with the golden calf when they tired of waiting on Moses.

Even the church of the New Testament was corrupted within its first generation, as the apostles make clear.

What then shall we do?  Forsake organized religion and love Jesus Christ.  He is God.  He is spirit and is everywhere.  He will hear you when you pray.  He will guide you in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

I must warn you: Christians will disapprove of you if you try to follow Jesus without following them.  But you can endure persecution just as Jesus did – by loving and praying for those who persecute you.

Follow the Bible’s prescription.  That is, abandon church and serve Jesus.  Stop living for yourself, and instead live for Him.  It’s called seeking the kingdom of God.

Looking for an Alternative Christianity?

If you are considering an alternative Christianity, consider Jesus.

Yes, consider Jesus of Nazareth, Savior of the world.

Perhaps you will say that you have tried Christianity already but found the church too much to take.  In that case, forsake the bath water and cling to the baby.  That is, forsake churchgoing and cling to Jesus Christ.

You do not have to accept church in order to accept Jesus.  In fact, focusing on church will only distract you from walking with Jesus.

Call on the name of Jesus in faith, depending on no one and nothing else.  He will hear you and He will heal your soul.  You can walk with Him every day of your life in just this way.

Churchless Christianity Is Biblical Christianity

Biblical Christianity is truth that has Christ at its center, because He is the truth.  False Christianity has the church as its center.

Biblical Christianity proclaims a God who is spirit.  False Christianity proclaims a human organization called church that presumes to represent God.

Biblical Christianity depends on the unseen God.  False Christianity depends on organized religion (that is, religion organized by human beings).

Biblical Christianity trusts what the Bible says about God.  False Christianity only pays lip service to the Bible.

Forsake churchgoing and follow Christ, who is the God of all humanity.  Abandon all religion and trust Him alone.

This is True Christianity.

Jesus Gives You Rest; the Church Gives You Burdens

Jesus promised to give rest to all who came to Him – that His commandments were not burdensome.  What a beautiful promise to a burdened and weary humanity!

By contrast, the church gives burdens to all who come to it.  Oh, you may be treated gently in the beginning.  Once you’ve been there a while, however, your responsibilities will be made clear to you: you need to tithe and you need to volunteer.  “If you don’t, the church will fail,” they’ll tell you.

Doesn’t this discrepancy between what Jesus promises and what the church promises reveal to you that the church is not truly representing Jesus?

Avoid church and go to Jesus instead.  He will hear you whenever you call on His name.  And following His commandments will give you rest for your weary soul.

Death Has Lost Its Sting

A bee that has lost its sting is just a harmless insect.  Some bees even die themselves once they release their stinger.  This is, in effect, what happens to death – it dies itself.

Death comes to every human being, but Jesus Christ removed the power of the sting of death such that everyone who dies simply goes to heaven (Everyone Is Going to Heaven).  This great victory is enjoyed by the whole world because God so loved the world.  This is the love God has for all of us through Jesus Christ.

Therefore, death still comes…but it is impotent.  Oh, it may separate loved ones for a while…but not for long.  Every human being who dies…lives again immediately in another realm – a realm where you will one day join them.  Be at peace on this subject.  Great peace.

Death Is Our Enemy No More

That the Bible calls death our “enemy” is an encouragement in and of itself.  It implies that God is taking our side in the issue.  But the news gets better, for the Bible describes God as “abolishing death” through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Therefore, while death was an enemy, it is no more.  Death is simply our transition from life on earth to life in heaven.  Our daily relationship with God can and should be built upon the foundation of this assurance.

This applies to every person (Everyone Is Going to Heaven).

The Heavens Are Ablaze with the Glory of the Lord

When Jesus of Nazareth was raised from the dead on the third day after His crucifixion and burial, the world was irrevocably changed.  God had honored the greatest human life ever lived by bringing back its star for an encore – an encore that would last an eternity.

Jesus ascended into heaven and from there the glory of His never-ending life shines forth.  We cannot see this glory with our physical eyes, but our spiritual eyes – that is, our faith in Him – has 20/20 vision.

Be done with the darkness of ignorance that covers this earth – the spiritual ignorance of God’s glory.  Live your life in the light of God’s radiant presence through Jesus Christ.  Do not consider Him foreign for He donned flesh and blood and lived the same sort of existence you now live.  He knows what it’s like.  He’s truly been here.

Jesus is looking down toward you now with the same great love that animated His gaze upon the crowds that followed Him during His earthly life.  Look to Him now.  Speak to Him.  But, more importantly, listen to Him!  He speaks deep within your heart.

God Has Swallowed Up Death for All Time

The story of the Bible is that God has “swallowed up death for all time.”  The great deposit on this promise was the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  It was an earnest not just on the resurrection of some from the dead – but of all.  For the prophet Isaiah who promised on God’s behalf the swallowing of death went on in his next breath to say that God would “wipe tears away from all faces.”  The only way that all faces could be so comforted is if all human beings were redeemed from death.

If you’d like to be assured on this point, see Everyone Is Going to Heaven.  In the meantime, live in the peace that death is nothing more than a transition to a different manner of life.  Jesus Christ has guaranteed this outcome so you can count on it!

God Planned Our Deliverance from Death a Long Time Ago

God planned that He would deliver you from death long before you were born and certainly long before you did anything good or bad.  Note what this means: God’s love for you is not contingent on your behavior.  This does not mean that your behavior is not important to Him.  On the contrary, it matters very much to Him.  It’s just that He’s not going to reject you if you disappoint Him.  He’s going to keep welcoming you back into His arms every time you return to Him, because that’s how you’ll eventually learn to behave in a way that pleases both you and Him.

God’s plan since the beginning of creation is that He would redeem the entire human race through Jesus Christ.  Not some of the human race – all of it!

If you’re not sure of this, check out Everyone Is Going to Heaven.
