Do not fear affliction

O believer, you don’t have to fear being afflicted, for consider what the Lord has chosen to do about your afflictions.  [emphasis added]

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
–  Psalm 34:19

For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.
–  Psalm 149:4

O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted,
Behold, I will set your stones in antimony,
And your foundations I will lay in sapphires.
–  Isaiah 54:11

Is God Hidden…or Revealed?

God is hidden in nature, but revealed in Jesus Christ.

God is hidden from those who do not seek Him, but revealed to those who do.

Reminder Verse – Revelation 5:9-10

Here’s a verse from the Bible chapter covered in today’s podcast episode. I’ve broken up the formatting of the verse to help you meditate on it (i.e. ponder it, consider it, think more about it) in more easily-digestible pieces. This kind of thoughtful consideration of God’s word is in accordance with what the Scriptures teach us to do, which is to “meditate on it day and night” (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; Psalm 119:97). Meditating on any portion of the word of God should help you get more meaning from it (2 Timothy 2:7). Now let’s hear this portion of God’s word to us today:

…Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals;
for You were slain,
and purchased for God with Your blood
men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.
– Revelation 5:9-10

This is the song we sing to Jesus our Lord.  We sing it now, and we will sing it forever.

For Jesus not only explained the Old Testament, He gave His life a ransom for all of us.

Reminder Verse – 1 Peter 2:25

Here’s a verse from the Bible chapter covered in today’s podcast episode. For you were continually straying like sheep,
but now you have returned to
the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
– 1 Peter 2:25

Have you wandered from Him enough that you can now recognize the value of returning to Him…and not wandering?

Reminder Verse – 1 Peter 2:10

Here’s a verse from the Bible chapter covered in today’s podcast episode. I’ve broken up the formatting of the verse to help you meditate on it (i.e. ponder it, consider it, think more about it) in more easily-digestible pieces. This kind of thoughtful consideration of God’s word is in accordance with what the Scriptures teach us to do, which is to “meditate on it day and night” (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; Psalm 119:97). for you once were NOT A PEOPLE,
but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD;
you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY,
but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.
– 1 Peter 2:10

We did not become the people of God naturally.  We accepted His call.  Let us therefore live out our commitment.

Reminder Verse – 1 Peter 2:9

Here’s a verse from the Bible chapter covered in today’s podcast episode. I’ve broken up the formatting of the verse to help you meditate on it (i.e. ponder it, consider it, think more about it) in more easily-digestible pieces. This kind of thoughtful consideration of God’s word is in accordance with what the Scriptures teach us to do, which is to “meditate on it day and night” (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:2; Psalm 119:97). But you are
A CHOSEN RACE,
A royal PRIESTHOOD,
A HOLY NATION,
A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION,
so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him
who has called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light;
– 1 Peter 2:9

We who choose to live for God inherit an honored place in His creation.  It is our privilege to proclaim His excellencies!

Reminder Verse – 1 Timothy 5:4

Here’s a verse from the Bible chapter covered in today’s podcast episode:

…they must first learn to practice piety
in regard to their own family..
– 1 Timothy 5:4

If you want to grow in your understanding of Jesus as your Lord, start in you own house.

You can’t be great for God somewhere else if you are small for Him at home.

Colossians 2:9

Here’s a verse from the Bible chapter we read during the podcast today:

For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form
– Colossians 2:9

As we saw in the verse earlier today, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself (Colossians 2:2-3; 2 Corinthians 5:19).
