You shall not commit adultery.
– Exodus 20:14 (circa 15th Century B.C.)
Under Moses, the ancient Jews were commanded not to commit the act of adultery.
You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
– Matthew 5:27-28 (circa 1st Century A.D.)
Under Jesus, who came 15 centuries later, everyone is commanded to not even entertain a thought of adultery.
If you consider the thoughts of your mind too fleeting and inconsequential to be of interest to Jesus, you are missing a central aspect of the benefit His lordship is intended to bring you.
Cleanse your thoughts before Him and, as a result, your life will be cleansed before everyone else.
