For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.
– 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 [emphasis added]
We are called to cease living for ourselves and, instead, live for Him.
I have found that living for oneself is highly over-rated. It leads inevitably to disappointment. By contrast, living for the One who created us and redeemed us makes all the sense in the world – and, when pursued, leads to peace and joy.
Therefore, I pray about the day before me not wondering what I might want to accomplish, but rather seeking what He might want to accomplish through me.
“Thy kingdom come.”
