Don’t just run home for praise

A son’s desire to take his report card to his father usually corresponds to the grades that it shows: the better the grades, the greater his desire to get home with the report card.  However, a discerning son recognizes that discussing his report card with his father is a valuable exercise no matter how good or bad the grades.

Go to Jesus irrespective of the grade you think you deserve for the day.  Remember what He says:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
–  Matthew 11:28-30 [quoting Jeremiah 6:16]

“…the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.”
–  John 6:37
