The Most Unusual Book in Print

The Bible is not the only book that is ancient.

The Bible is not the only book that has multiple authors.

The Bible is not the only book that is an anthology.

The Bible is not the only anthology whose authors are separated by more than a thousand years.

The Bible is not the only book that records history.

The Bible is not the only book that records prophecy.

The Bible is not the only book that has a unifying theme and consistent sub-themes.

The Bible is not the only book that can be described as a biography.

The Bible is not the only book that presents a mystery and then solves it.

The Bible is not the only book that claims to speak for God.

The Bible is, however, the only book that is all these things.

Aside from everything else it is, the Bible is the greatest wonder of the literary world – by far!  Why don’t more readers read it?

One Response to The Most Unusual Book in Print

  1. Timothy says:

Mike, in reference to your question above: “Why don’t more readers read it?” (the Bible). We both could speculate on a number of different reasons why. I was strangely up early when I got this Post. Here is part of the answer. It lies in Man’s ACCEPTANCE, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, and UNDERSTANDING of the Bible as “The Word of GOD”. Apart from the ‘inner witness’ of the Holy Spirit; we may read such, but will never fully grasp the TRUE significance that it is actually the literal Word of God as given to Mankind. The Bible is a Correspondence. That is, it has certain distinct similarities between Spiritual Matters and Natural Matters respectively. There is a correspondence that exists between all things of the Spiritual World (of our hearts, minds, souls, and spirits) and our Natural World (of our bodies and this earth). Such a ‘Science’ or ‘Knowledge’ existed at one time among the Ancients of humanity, but has long since been forgotten. Such a correspondence is from the beginning of Creation. Hence, all of the Bible (God’s Word) is likewise a correspondence. The very parables in the Bible are ‘corresponding Truths’. Therefore, by gaining a “inspired” understanding (by means of the Holy Spirit) concerning the LANGUAGE OF PARABLE one would not only have the KEY to the scripture, but (again, by means of the Holy Spirit) would gain a greater appreciation, a broader insight, more comprehensive understanding, and a deeper knowledge of THE TRUTH OF EXISTENCE. For, all correspondence related to spiritual matters (of our hearts, minds, souls, and spirits) is ‘revealed’, as previously stated, by the Living Truth, who is The Lord. (see John 14:6.) Without such correspondence as exists between the Spiritual World and our Natural World; the Truth of the Bible is hidden from our view (understanding). Furthermore, God and Mankind are similarly a correspondence in respect to FUNCTION. That is, God functions as a man (Jesus Christ, a human), and Mankind functions as a ‘representative’ of God. Pardon my ‘long’ explanation, but if one could only “grasp” this much; I think it will answer your question at least in part. Thank you for your question. As you can see I also have given this much thought. Blessings to all. Timothy
