Holiness Requires Righteousness

Through faith in Christ, your entire life is made holy – if indeed you live according to that faith and don’t just let it become a mere profession of how you felt in a given moment.  You must also forsake unrighteousness and pursue righteousness.  That is, you must do good if you are to be truly set apart to God.

Let’s say a man comes to believe in Christ and consequently begins to perform his job for the Lord.  All is well so far.  However, if he cheats his employer, or gossips about his co-workers, or circumvents the law in his dealings then his holiness becomes unholiness.

A person can do righteousness without being holy, but he cannot be holy without doing righteousness.  Righteousness is what is right; holiness is what is “the Lord’s” (that is, what is done “as unto the Lord”).

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything or anyone else – but Him.

One Response to Holiness Requires Righteousness

  1. Susanne Schuberth (Germany) says:

    Amen, brother.

Indeed, I won’t go about explaining “holiness” since you can do it much better. I just wanted to say that righteousness automatically follows holiness as soon as believers – who feel such a key connection (!) – can profess or even sing from the bottom of their heart:

    I will follow Him
Follow Him wherever He may go,
And near Him, I always will be
For nothing can keep me away,
    He is my destiny.

    I will follow Him,
Ever since He touched my heart I knew,
There isn’t an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love.

I love Him, I love Him, I love Him,
    And where He goes,
    I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow.
he’ll always be my true love, my true love, my true love
from now until forever, forever, forever

    I will follow Him,
Follow Him wherever He may go,
There isn’t an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love…

    We will follow Him,
Follow Him wherever He may go,
There isn’t an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep us away, away from His love…

    I love Him
    (Oh yes I love Him)
    I’ll follow
    (I’m gonna follow)
    True love
(He’ll always be my true, true love)
    Forever
    (Now until forever)
I love Him, I love Him, I love Him,
    And where He goes,
    I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow,
He’ll always be my true love,
My true love, my true love,
    From now until forever,
    Forever, forever…

There isn’t an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love

(Sister Act, “I Will Follow Him”)

Since it’s all about Jesus Christ, our Lord – it’s all about Him…

    Truly,
    sister Susanne
