The Good Samaritan Was a Day Late and a Dollar Short

Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan to demonstrate that we should always be ready to show mercy to whoever needs it.

You’ll recall that the Samaritan was on his way to Jericho.  He stopped to help the traveler who’d been abused and beaten by robbers.  The Samaritan took the wounded man to the inn, so he wasn’t able to get to Jericho until the next day.  Before departing, the Samaritan also shelled out funds to the innkeeper for the care of the injured man.  Thus it appears the Good Samaritan arrived in Jericho both a day late and a dollar short.

We should understand therefore that being a day late and a dollar short in life can mean that we are right smack dab in the middle of the will of God.

God does not measure your success in life by how far you get, but rather by how much you help others along your way.

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything or anyone else – but Him.
