The Apostles’ Creed is considered to be a representation of what the apostles themselves believed and taught. Thus, while it is itself not found in the New Testament, everything that it says is witnessed to in the New Testament. What then is wrong with the Apostles’ Creed? Nothing. We should believe it just as we believe the New Testament and just as we believe the apostles.
Why then do I raise the question? Because the odd things is, so many people who profess allegiance to the Apostles’ Creed don’t actually believe it. For if they believed it, they would believe that Jesus Christ has already come again just as the apostles said He would. Instead, such people believe that Jesus has delayed His coming long past the time it was expected by the apostles. Who are we to question the apostles of Jesus Christ?
Let us not just pay lip service to the Apostles’ Creed. Let us take it seriously. Let us take it deeply to heart and believe that what Jesus has promised, He has done. He is here.
Bible notes on this post.
The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything or anyone else – but Him.
