We Learn Obedience from the Things We Suffer – Part 2 of 3

When we suffer at someone’s hand, we have an opportunity to learn the obedience of Jesus.  That is, we can forgive the wrongdoer- which is what Jesus would do.  Or, we could refuse to forgive.  The problem with refusing to forgive is that we thereby pronounce judgment on ourselves.

God judges us according to the way we have judged others.  Whatever standard we hold others to, God holds us to.  Therefore, if you want mercy from the judgments of God, you need to show mercy to others.  The only person you are punishing when you refuse to forgive…is yourself.

That’s why Jesus says we should forgive everyone of everything in our hearts.  It’s not only the right thing to do, it keeps God’s mercy flowing our way.

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
