The Pursuit of Virtue Through Jesus Christ – Part 3 of 3

God created you that you might have a personal relationship with Him.  This personal relationship is like a friendship or even a marriage.  It is to be intimate.

God wants you to never be alone.  He wants to be the One who is with you at all times.  He already knows your thoughts – He wants you to know His.

You cannot have a personal relationship with Him unless you are willing to pursue a life of virtue.

Many people have had a personal experience with Jesus Christ that they fondly recall.  However, the feeling, the passion, the emotion has drained away.  The reason for this is that Jesus cleansed you of your sin when you first knowingly embraced Him.  However, you did not pursue moral excellence with perseverance and so your soul returned to its unredeemed state.

The way to regain the glow that you had with Jesus in your first days of walking with Him is to repent of your sins and be as moral as you can.  Another way of saying this is to be as much like Jesus as you know how.

You cannot walk with Him if you do not walk like Him.

Do not think that this means you must quit your job or leave your family or any other such thing.  Rather, it means that you renew yourself to commitments, and fulfill them as Jesus would.   Let Him live His life through you for the sake of those around you.  Both you and they will be the better for it.

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
