The Coming One

From the beginning of the Bible it was promised that there was one coming who would address the problem of sin.

Over and over, this promise was made in many various forms and descriptions.

This coming one was called many names: Messiah, (or Christ or Anointed),  the Son of God, the son of man, the son of David, the Breaker, the Branch, and many other names.

Until He came, there was great uncertainty about how the variety of all the promises and names would be reconciled.  But about one fact there was absolutely no doubt or disagreement: someone was coming.

Thus, believing Jews in the 1st Century were looking for the Coming One.  When they saw Him in Jesus of Nazareth, they lived for Him.  And the 27 documents that they produced over the decades that followed were collected and labeled the New Testament.

Call on His Name:  The Coming One

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
