Jesus said, “I am the vine and you are the branches,” implying a vital connection.
Jesus is the vine from which we draw life. Apart from our connection with Him we are like branches that have been severed from a tree: we may still look green for a while but decay has already set in and the browning of our leaves is not far off.
Jesus is not secondary or peripheral to life. He must be the center of our lives or else we are still walking dead men.
We keep our connection with Him by keeping His commandments. His most fundamental commandments are that we love Him and each other.
The important truth to keep in mind is that there is a vine to which we can – and should – always be connected. Jesus Christ is His name. Love is the tie that binds.
Call on His Name: The Vine.
Bible notes on this post.
The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
