The Lamb of God

Jesus was the quiet lamb led to the slaughter.  He did not complain nor lash out at those reviling Him.  He gave His life in humble sacrifice to demonstrate to us the nature of God.  That is, in His crucifixion we find out what God was made of.

God is patient, God is kind, and is not jealous; God does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; God does not seek His own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.  God bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  God never fails.

This is the nature of God.  And Jesus – the Lamb of God – fully reveals that nature to us.

regarding this:”God is patient, God is kind, and is not jealous” isn’t it was written our God is a jealous God? (Exodus 20:5) (Exodus 34:14) will this not be a contradiction?

    • Mike Gantt says:

There is no contradiction in the Scriptures because everything God says is truth.

To be jealous for what is yours is a good thing; to be jealous of what is someone else’s is evil. To be jealous of what is yours is to care about it; to be jealous of what is someone else’s is to be envious. When a man is jealous for his wife and children he protects them and will not let others take advantage of them; when a man is jealous of others, he wants what they have and fails to be content with what is his own.

God is jealous for what is His. This is why everyone is going to heaven. He was unwilling for us to remain lost. He brings us back to Himself.

God is not jealous of others. He seeks only the good of others. God is love.
