Why are we here? This question is very profound. So profound that I’m going to answer it four different times in four different ways – and even that won’t settle the issue. It will, however, offer an opportunity to thank God for letting us be here.
We are here for God to demonstrate that good overcomes evil. What good news!
Be aware, however, that we do not have to merely be observers of good overcoming evil. We can join with God in the demonstration. That is, let us be agents of good in the force of evil – that’s what “turning the other cheek” is all about. Good is far more powerful than evil, though it often doesn’t appear to be in the short term.
Once you accept this profound reason for our existence you could quickly come to regret that you’ve often been an agent for evil in your life so far. Do not be dismayed at this. You could actually spend the rest of your life doing good to make up for the evil you’ve done to this point in your life. Is there a better motivation to live?
Bible notes on this post.
The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
