Whose name do you live for: yours or someone else’s? If someone else’s, is that someone else Jesus? If so, wonderful!
Most people live for their own name. That is, they live for their own reputation, their own identity, their own selves. Such people want to make sure they look good to others – at least the others that they care about impressing.
This is a selfish way to live. And it’s not very enjoyable. (Haven’t you noticed?)
Jesus taught us a better way to live. He lived for God. He cared more about God’s name than He did His own. He cared more about God’s reputation than He did His own. He cared more about God than He cared about Himself. As He loved and lived for the name of God, so we can love and live for the name of Jesus. This is where you can find the greatest joy in living.
The name of Jesus Christ – the name which is worthy enough for all of us to live for!
Bible notes on this post.
The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
