Did Jesus Die on the Cross so that the Sabbath Could Be Moved from Saturday to Sunday?

Did Jesus give His life a ransom for many so that worship services could be moved from Friday evenings to Sunday mornings? It is hard to ask this question with a straight face. And yet there are millions of people who seem by their behavior to suggest that this is the case.   Should we laugh or cry?

We could also ask, “Did Jesus die for the sins of the world so that the Passover meal could be held more often and called Communion instead?”  Such an idea is preposterous…but look how many people are practicing it as if this were God’s plan in action!

Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection were matters of the utmost seriousness.  Yes, there were rituals in the Old Testament economy.  But Christ is the substance of those rituals.  He is the reality which they foreshadowed.  Since He has come let us be done with the shadows and embrace the light of Christ our God!

At least the Old Testament rituals were ordained by God.  The church’s rituals today are the commandments of men.  Cast them aside and live for Christ.

Christ is everywhere all the time – let’s act like it.

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to proclaim Jesus Christ to those who want to hear about Him without having to join a church – or anything else – but Him.
