Does Your Morality Exceed That of Churchgoers?

Jesus promised His kingdom to those who hungered and thirsted for morality (commonly referred to in the Bible as righteousness).

I can tell you that the morality practiced by churchgoers is insufficient to get you access into the kingdom.  I know because I was an avid churchgoer, and even a pastor, and neither ever got me into the kingdom.  Only when I ceased seeking church and instead sought Jesus did I even become more aware of the kingdom and move toward it.

Just because God ascribes no value to churchgoing does not mean that He approves of you when you don’t go to church.  It’s when you go to Him that you gain His approval.  And that is just the beginning.  If you would maintain His approval, you must day by day put away sin and sacrifice your life for His.  That is, you must live by His law of love.

Do you want this kind of life?  Do you hunger and thirst for this degree of morality or righteousness?  Only when you have a desire this strong for godliness do you have a genuine hope of achieving it.  Churchgoers cling to their churchgoing but you must cling to Jesus.

Bible notes on this post.

The purpose of this blog is to praise Jesus Christ for those who want to hear about Him without having to join something.
