Deep Knowing

God can make us to know things.  I mean really know them.  Deep inside.

To receive this type of knowing we need to keep quiet souls.  Life can be filled with so many distractions.  If we allow them to take up residence within us we can have very busy minds.  Busy minds are not the way to stay conscious of this deep knowing.  You’re just going to have to stop worrying about most of the things that you have been letting bother you.

Your relationship with God must matter more to you than your relationship with any other person.  Don’t worry that your other relationships will suffer.  They will only improve if you put God’s above them all.  Once you have given God the preeminence, spend quiet time with Him.  Your posture of body is less important that your posture of mind.  Be quiet and still.  Remind yourself of all the goodness He has shown you.  Present yourself to Him as a child to a loving Father.

Do not faint if He corrects you.  He can’t show you better ways to live without addressing your shortcomings.  He will be gentle.  He won’t tell you everything has to change at once.  You wouldn’t be able to handle that.  Whatever He makes you to know, act on it.  The most important thing He will ever make you to know is that He is, and that He rewards those who seek Him.  Know therefore – deeply know – that He is your God.

The purpose of this blog is to provide information about Jesus to those who want to hear about Him without having to join something.

One Response to Deep Knowing

  1. Susanne Schuberth (Germany) says:

‘Your relationship with God must matter more to you than your relationship with any other person. Don’t worry that your other relationships will suffer. They will only improve if you put God’s above them all. Once you have given God the preeminence, spend quiet time with Him.’

I second that completely, Mike, since it is my very experience that I [looking at it the other way round], I do suffer in other relationships as long as I remember to put Him first again. In my quiet time with God I often feel that He does correct me gently, but always for my good, so that I can find peace of mind once again. And at one go, it is not that important what others think of me, or say what I should do instead of that which I did or will do – whatever – it doesn’t hurt me the way it did before because I feel His hand, His Spirit, keeping my heart quiet.

A few days ago, God reminded me repeatedly of the following Bible verse:

“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6)

Sometimes it is still a struggle for me to put Him first as to many decisions I make, but as soon as I do it, His peace is stronger than anything. Though it is good to read the Bible which I like doing, I always need His Spirit to show me in my real life what Scripture means for me. The afore-mentioned verse means for me knowing Him and His will regarding any situation that leaves me in doubts. It is true, ‘deep inside’, there is this intuitive ‘deep knowing’ what He wishes.

Indeed, I guess sometimes it takes more than just information, when we just want to come to know Him better… In fact, we need Him to make us believers and show us who HE IS.

More or less unknowingly, every human being is searching (anywhere!) for ‘the One who wouldn’t put anything else in the world above them’. The One who gave up His life for everyone as if you or me would be the only person He lived and died for. This is a love only God can give, that is, to make us feel as if we were in fact the only one He loves for life… and, to find a way to erase the past so that we can be whole again…

    PS
In order to get into the right mood resp. posture of mind, I simply talk to Jesus until my cackling thoughts abate, instead of trying to ‘meet [the Lord Jesus Christ] as the angels sing in heaven upon a purple lined cloud’ 🙂
