We don’t usually think of a child as being powerful. On the contrary, in a world of adults, children are at a decided disadvantage. They are physically, mentally, and emotionally weaker than the adults around them. Children are not only not powerful – they are vulnerable and they are dependent.
Ironic then, that God tells us that becoming childlike before Him is our path to power in the earth. By humbling ourselves and being vulnerable before Him, we adopt a posture that will allow us to receive from Him on a daily basis.
How wonderful that He has designed life so that we can approach Him for all our needs each and every day. We do not have to store up enough wisdom to be able to live for the next week or month or year. No, we get to ask Him every day for our daily bread.
Jesus was strong, independent, and courageous in the face of all sorts of opposition. Yet He was humble as He could be before His heavenly Father. If you listen to His prayers, they are incredibly childlike. As it worked for Him, it works for us.
I can give up feeling like I have to know it all. I can go to Him ignorant and He will make known to me what I need that day. That’s power.
